Current Cycling Conditions on US 41 (future ROGG corridor)

General
--  Entire road is 2-lane with high speed traffic. 
--  Miles are # miles from Krome Ave. 
--  Trailheads have parking & toilets (no drinking water).  Visitor Centers have drinking water.
--  Summer season:  traffic volume moderate; beware of afternoon thunderstorms.

East (updated 11/11/11)
--  miles 1.5-4 are under construction. No shoulder; guardrails on both sides; possibly one-lane in construction zone.  CAUTION!  Alternative route is gravel road on levee north of highway. note:  access to levee road at Mile 1.3, 6.3 (foot bridge), 12.1.
--  miles 4-12 shoulder is rough, with debris.
--  miles 12-25 have paved shoulder (4 ft wide), but no shoulder at bridges;
      shoulders resurfaced in 2010; segregated from traffic by rumble-stripe.

Central (updated 4/4/11)

-- bring your own food.  no sodas or snacks for sale.  water at Oasis (mile 36)
-- resurfaced 2009.  narrow paved shoulder (1-2 ft) that is sometimes occluded with reflectors. Construction on shoulders (widening to 4 ft!) expected in 2012.
-- alternative route (miles 21-41) is Loop Rd. Middle section CLOSED March 2011-April 2012 for reconstruction.  mostly dirt and rough with pot-holes; paved in eastern portion; sometimes under water during summer; skinny tires not recommended.
-- Hwy 29 (north/south access to ROGG-central) has wide shoulder.


West (updated 3/15/11)
--  miles 57-67  (between SR29 and Port of the Islands) has un-bikeable shoulder due to rumble strips, reflectors & pavement is rough with debris.  Caution.
--  miles 67-73  paved shoulder (4 ft) is sometimes rough
--  west of CR92  paved shoulder is wide.  Currently being resurfaced.  CAUTION
--  CR92 (to Marco) has no shoulder; traffic volume low; high speed; be cautious of trucks hauling wide boat trailers
